The Center for Dairy Excellence has named Elizabeth Canupp as its intern for the summer of 2014. Canupp is a native of Gainesville, Georgia, and will work with center staff to expand her knowledge of the dairy industry and refine her business and communication skills.
"We are very pleased to have Elizabeth working with us this summer," said John Frey, executive director of the Center for Dairy Excellence. "She will be involved with many projects at the center, and we have no doubt that her experience will allow her to be an integral part of the team."
As the communications intern, Canupp will coordinate the summer open house events in July, as well as enhance the Discover Dairy program and assist in the reformatting of the Dairy Leaders of Tomorrow program.
Canupp is a recent graduate of Berry College in Rome, Georgia, with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science. During her time at Berry, she served as CEO of The Berry Farms Agriculture Education Enterprise, as genetics manager of The Berry Farms Genetics Enterprise and in various supervisory roles at The Berry College Rollins Dairy. In the fall, Canupp will attend Clemson University for her master's degree in agricultural education, with a full assistantship helping to coordinate South Carolina's 4-H and FFA programming.
Canupp is eager to learn more about the dynamic dairy industry in Pennsylvania and she is looking forward to beginning work at the center as well as gaining experience as she works alongside producers and industry professionals.
