The New York Beef Industry Center is adding cattle clipping demonstrations for Empire Farm Days, scheduled for August 6-8, 2013. Experts on fitting cattle for show and sale will work with live animals daily at 12:30 p.m.
The New York Beef Industry Center includes a live cattle breeds display and the opportunity to talk with Angus, Red Angus, Hereford, Charolais, Limousin, Simmental, South Devon and White Park producers.
Visitors to the center will find information on the NY Beef Producers Association, Beef Checkoff promotions and Beef Quality Assurance program, which is a combination of technology, common sense, a concern for animal well-being and consumer-oriented production. Producers can enroll to become a BQA-Certified Producer.
Daily at 11:30 a.m. at the center, Cornell University Beef Extension Specialist Dr. Mike Baker will demonstrate safe cattle handling facilities and techniques, including the lower-stress Bud Box system.
