Maine Farm Days will be held August 20-21, 2014, at Misty Meadows Farm in Clinton, Maine. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission is free and open to the public.
The event includes activities for both farmers and nonfarmers alike: a range of agribusiness exhibits, equipment dealers, wagon tours, children's learning center, craft tent, farmers market, and educational speakers and presentations. It is an extravaganza of animals, farm information, interesting people, equipment, food and entertaining displays.
Pesticide credits will be available through University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Workshops will cover pest and weed identification, plant diseases, forage quality, integrated pest management and pesticide storage.

For vegetable exhibits, entries will be accepted from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19. Vegetables must be grown by the exhibitor. Exhibitors may submit 12 green beans, one head of broccoli, four pickling cucumbers, three sweet peppers or six carrots. Only one entry per category. Entries must be picked up by 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, when prize money will be available.
Whoopie Pie and Pie Contest
There will be a junior division for ages 12 to 18 and an adult division for ages 19 to 99. Pies must be apple and baked in a disposable pan; the original recipe must be included with the submission. Three individually wrapped whoopie pies must be submitted, along with the original recipe. There will be cash prizes for the top three in each division. Only one entry per person for each category. There is a $5 registration fee for each contest. Registration will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20; judging will take place at 1 p.m.
